Kevin Gets A Haircut!

Keven had been growing his hair out for a while. He used to have it short and sticking up on top, but he said he "got tired of the Jimmy Neutron look" so he started growing it out. I didn't like it long, at first, and I started calling him Cousin It... and then he announces to me that he's getting it all buzzed off. Just when I got used to it lol.

Cloudy Days

We've had summer storms here lately due to the monsoon season which lasts from July to early September. Most of the time it's just humid and HOT, but we actually got some rain this week. Yay! I love the clouds that the monsoons bring in.

If you look very closely, you can see the top of the Cardinal's stadium on the bottom left of this photo. That's where the Super Bowl was held this year :) Those are the Estrella Mountains in the background.

National Dog Day!

Wow! I didn't even realize it when I posted a few minutes ago that today is National Dog Day! This day was created with two purposes: to honor dogs, and to rescue dogs from homelessness and abuse. National Dog Day was created by the National Dog Day Foundation. Their motto is "Saving 10,000 Dogs - One Day at a Time".

President George W. Bush, a dog owner himself, sent a letter to the foundation in support of National Dog Day. Wow, now I can count one good thing that George has done while being president HAHAHAHA :)

Having A Dogs Is Good For You

Anyone who is owned by a pug (or any dog for that matter) will tell you what a joy it is to have them as part of the family. They have such sweet dispositions, are content just being with their humans, and act like clowns for us when we are feeling down.

Lately, I've been reading stuff online by Dr. Nicholas H. Dodman, an expert in animal behavior and he firmly believes that the animals we love improve our health and overall well-being. Here is a quote from him:

According to one New York-based study, pets cause a 15 percent drop in blood pressure in people with high blood pressure, and dog owners visit their doctor less often and are less likely to require heart medication. Hospitalized patients who receive visits from a trained service dog have been shown to have increased self-esteem and experience less depression than those who do not receive visits.

When I adopted my Pugsley, I thought I had rescued a pug, but I guess a pug rescued me :)

I've Been Tagged!

Melissa and Emmitt from Pugnotes tagged me for Adore Le Pug game! I've never been tagged before, so thank you!

1) How did you first learn about Pugs?

After I bought my house in 1999, I wanted to get a dog. I took an online dog personality test that told me I would do best with either a german shepherd or a pug (what opposite ends of the doggie spectrum, ey?)

2) What made you get a Pug?

I really wanted to get a dog from a shelter, since there are so many homeless doggies... I never thought I'd find a homeless pug, though. I had arranged to go meet a german shepherd after work one day, so I went to Petsmart at lunch to buy water/food dishes, some toys, treats, etc. The Arizona Humane Society had a pet adoption day there that day, and I saw a lady with Butch on a leash. She was bringing him in from outside. I thought "what a cute puggie!!!" but it didn't dawn on me until after I got back to work that he was up for adoption (DUH). So I went back after work and he was still there! Needless to say I had to bring him home.

My first dog, Butch, who went to the Rainbow Bridge in 2005-

3) Most memorable moment with your Pug (s)

Wow, there have been a lot of memorable moments... I guess that point where they recognized me as their buddy after I brought them home. You can see the affection in their little faces.

4) What is the most important thing Pugs (or dogs) have taught you?

Treats rule! And that tail wags and a lick can fix any bad mood :)

5) Best Thing You Ever Did For Your Pug….aside from loving them, keeping them healthy & happy, and giving them a great life.

I guess it would have to be that I adopted each of my pugs from rescue organizations and gave them a second chance :)

My second pug, Princess Peanut Puggieshoo, who went to the Rainbow Bridge in 2006-

Happy Friday!

We made it to the weekend! Woohoo!!! I'm planning on spending the weekend with my wonderful BF :) It will probably be a lazy weekend... I really look forward to those!

I'll leave you with this thought:

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Have a happy and safe weekend!

Just A Few ATCs

Here are a few ATCs I fiddled around with today. I used some of my stash of silk flowers on them. I got so many comments on the Adrien Brody ATC, that I decided to make one of Johnny Depp lol.

Kitty Tails

Chester, the kitty, has decided he wants everything that Pugsley has LOL. I made a pillow for Pugsley to nap on in my sewing room, so Chester came in, looked around, and started to WHINE as if saying "where is mine?". I grabbed a blanket for him and he seemed pretty happy with that. I have to really watch him, though... he likes to jump up on everything.

Here are the 2 furbabies relaxing-Chester has his paw covering his face.

Wednesday Ramblings

Here are a few photos of some things I've been playing around with lately. I really like needle felting with cool yarns. I found the softest, most cushy yarn the other day, so I made a few bookmarks to match the dollies I've been working on.

I purchased a light box so that (hopefully) I can take better photos of my stuff. It's way cool! Now I don't have to worry about getting my messy house in the backgrounds of my pictures lol. I'm still learning how to use it though (obviously!).

I Can't Get Away :)

Pugsley knows the way to make me melt. I know he's thinking he'll get more treats that way lol. He was sitting next to me on the sofa the other day, so I started scratching his chin. All of a sudden he pushed my arm down with his paws and rested his little head on my arm. Awwww :) I didn't want to move, but after a while my arm went to sleep lol.

Back To School Time

Wow - this year is flying by so quickly! On my way to work now, I see the kiddies all standing in a bunch with their cute little backpacks waiting for the school bus. I kinda miss Kevin being that small sometimes... I drove him to school in the mornings and he'd run off to play with his friends... but I digress lol.

Here is a back-to-school dollie I made for a swap. I am trying to keep from signing up for so many swaps, but it's just so much fun. :)

Pugsley Is The Ladies' Man

Yeah, I get comments all the time about how cute Pugsley is, but he seems to be very popular with the hotties. So, what do you think about them apples, Eric?? hahahaha I figured it was time to pick on ya again. ;)

Sunday Ramblings and Photos

Jus a few photos to share this morning... I fiddled around with some different things yesterday. Discovered (for the millionth time) that I can't draw worth a flying rat's behind I am artisic-ly challenged big time when it comes to drawing hahahaha. Still, I try every now and then just to make sure. I am so jealous (in a good way!) of people who can draw. I guess I'll have to stick to my other bizillion hobbies for now - HA!

Here are a couple of goodies I got yesterday :)
Isn't this amigurumi so cute????

A couple of dolls that go out this week to their new homes. This one is for a Mother Nature dotee swap. I was planning on making her white and flowing somehow, with little doves. However, I had 50,000 ongoing projects on my work table and the face kinda fell into the flowers and it just seemed to work. I bought a HUGE bag of loose silk flowers at Walmart for almost free, so I was fiddling around with ideas yesterday.

Happy Weekend!!

Whew!! We made it to Saturday - yay! I'm playing around with some new stuff this weekend and getting some swaps ready to send. It has been so stinkin' hot and muggy here... I can't wait for October, when it starts getting nice here. I stopped at Hobby Lobby this morning and they had all kinds of fall stuff and thanksgiving stuff out... I wish the weather was more like fall already!!

I got some super nice swaps in the mail this week. I love swapping the little dolls. Although they are all basically made from the same idea, every one is different. Even the ones I make each seem to have their own individual personalities.

Here is a baby doll I made for a swap -

Tere's Room of Chaos

This morning, I woke up early and doodled around in my sewing room before I had to go to work. It finally hit me that my room is a MESS! When did the tornado invade my sewing room and why didn't I hear it?! Oh well, it is still my happy place!

Please tell me I'm not the only one with a room that looks like a craft store after a bar room brawl :)

Can you see the cute pug sitting on my laptop? I'm going to write about him next.
P1000901

I moved Baby Hughie into the kitchen because it's cooler there and he works better under the AC vent... the problem is that I promptly filled up the space where he used to be in the sewing room, so I think he will have to stay here permanently.
P1000909

Oh well, I did finish up this cutie this morning :) She goes off to her new home soon!

Saturday Morning

Today is a lazy day... my wonderful BF made me breakfast at his place. He's a really good cook and he spoils me so much. I'm very lucky to have him :) Later we'll go tool around and maybe see a movie. I love days like this :)

It's been so stinkin' hot here lately, but some clouds are coming in... hopefully it will cool down to 105 degrees or so - HA!

Happy Birthday, Emmitt!!!!

Pugsley's friend, Emmitt, turns 12 today!!!! Happy birthday to the big EM!!!!!

Be sure to leave him some love on his mom's blog at Pugnotes!!!

In case you've been wondering why things have been so quiet in my corner of the planet lately, it's been FRIGGIN' HOT!!!! The local newspaper says:

Dangerous heat continues for your Friday, with Valley highs ranging from 110-115. Because of the heat, an Excessive Heat Warning is in effect, and will last through 8pm on Saturday

sigh... hopefully things will cool down next week...

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
